Love Apocalypse
|
Genre: Rap
Formats: MP3 and Ogg Vorbis
Original CD release: summer 2004

It's not polished, but it's got tremendous soul. The album's thesis is that the end of the world as we know it is a perfect opportunity to reach out to one another in brotherly love. A spiritual rebuttal to the onslaught of the New World Order, Love Apocalypse is an emotional roller coaster from reverance to anger to merriment to melancholy, all liberally peppered with intensely irreverant humor. Anything but typical rap fare, this album presents a stunningly original vision comprised of humility, voluntary simplicity, anarcho-primitivism, David Icke-inspired conspiracy rants (the references to lizards), and endless peans to Southeast Portland, Oregon, USA. Over a dozen guest rappers help the manic MC diarrhea dish up this home-baked goodie, presenting their threat to the establishment, as well as a serious threat to establishment rap.
Works best as an album played start to finish. My favorite songs are "Sunrise", "Have you ever worked in a restaurant?", and "Poor Me".
